The F.I.R.S.T. Edition
Letters from the Editors
Corinthians 16:14 says “Do everything in love.”
Reflecting on my F.I.R.S.T. Love experience, I was overwhelmed by the expressions of love across the 92nd North Atlantic Regional Conference. The theme, F.I.R.S.T. Love, beautifully captured the North Atlantic Region’s love and commitment to the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha: sisterhood and service. Love has been integral to Alpha Kappa Alpha’s legacy, and this issue, The F.I.R.S.T. Love Experience, captures how, under the F.I.R.S.T. Administration, sorors are committed to sisterly love, the love of servant leadership, the love for the vision and legacy of our sisterhood, and the love that ensures our perpetuity. The F.I.R.S.T. Love Experience pays homage to our “Guiding Light,” Soror Ethel Hedgemon Lyle, who did everything in love from the founding of our sisterhood to her tireless service to Philadelphia. Ultimately, this issue honors our region’s legacy and celebrates our new Regional Director, Soror Elicia Pegues Spearman, Esq. and the F.I.R.S.T. Administration, our NARC hosts from Cluster II, and all North Atlantic sorors who put the love of sisterhood, service, leadership, and community FIRST!

Women in communion, particularly for women of color across the globe who are routinely un-celebrated, is more than an act of resilience, but a testament to the insurmountable effort it takes to envision and sustain co-created spaces of joy and love despite all, while SOAR-ing above and beyond to greater heights of sisterhood and service to all mankind. The 92nd North Atlantic Regional Conference centrally focuses this mission through a F.I.R.S.T.-tier Love Experience, mirrored by exemplary leadership, planning, execution and sisterly enthusiasm. Through each page of this robust issue, our region abounds and resounds, echoing the Song of Philadelphia - Love is the message!
