Media depictions of the present state of global affairs are bleak and undoubtedly add to existing stressors in our lives. Since the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have operated at a heightened level of stress, and this continued pressure contributes to negative self-thinking. Additionally, the increased prevalence of social media in our lives also leads many of us to compare our lived realities to the presented realities of those we interact with online. Remember, all forms of media are edited versions of reality. Talk to your doctor about physical and psychological symptoms associated with anxiety and the inability to control all of the variables that we face on a daily basis.
