The United States is amid an ongoing maternal health crisis that is particularly exacerbated in the Black community. In fact, Black women are three times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than their White peers. Addressing the maternal mortality crisis requires cultural competence, strong advocacy, and vigilance. In this issue, we hear from vigilant sorors who have recently given birth, and pioneering sorors who are working to change the healthcare landscape and outcomes for women of color.
